Kriti Sharma

Senior Trial Attorney

Kriti

Kriti Sharma was so dedicated to helping people through the criminal justice system that she started serving with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office while still in law school at Texas A&M. After graduation, she interned with the same D.A.’s office before being appointed to serve as Assistant D.A. in Collin County. She was promoted to Felony Prosecutor before making the switch to defense and joining the Barbieri team.

During nearly five years as a prosecuting attorney, Kriti took full advantage of the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the system. She saw clearly what worked—and what did not—in terms of defense. Now she is thrilled to put that knowledge to use defending individuals accused of violating the law.

“I’ve always had a passion for helping people,” she explains. “I know I can do that more effectively as a defense attorney.”

Kriti understands that clients are at a vulnerable point in their lives when they reach out to talk to a defense attorney, and that they often need to discuss situations and circumstances that can be very difficult to approach. She offers compassion and respect to clients during this challenging time in their lives, and strives to earn their respect and trust in return.

“I hope that whenever people contact me,” she notes, “they feel like they can be comfortable being honest. We talk about a lot of personal and private things. I work to ensure that clients feel comfortable opening up to me about the issues so that I can help in the best ways possible.”

During her undergraduate days at Texas Wesleyan University, Kriti was already focused on law and criminal justice but also demonstrated a commitment to serve others. She participated as an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, along with a number of other service organizations while majoring in pre-law and criminal justice.

While working toward her J.D. degree from the Texas A&M University School of Law, Kriti served as President of the Criminal Law Society and earned a Texas A&M Law Fellowship. Although she would go on to serve as a prosecutor, during law school, she demonstrated her dedication to defense by volunteering with the Innocence Clinic and the Criminal Defense Clinic.

Devoted to public service, Kriti has also helped others by serving as an extern in the Intimate Partner Violence Division of the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
